ATSC Seminar Will Highlight How ACAP Sets a Whole New Standard for Interactive Television

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 20, 2004 –The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) will conduct a one-day seminar to provide pertinent information on the Advanced Common Application Platform “ACAP” Candidate Standard (CS/101). The seminar will include numerous presentations outlining how ACAP will provide consumers with advanced interactive services while providing content creators, broadcasters, cable service providers, satellite operators, and consumer electronics manufacturers with technical details necessary for the development of interoperable services and products.

The speakers are highly active, dedicated ATSC participants who developed ACAP and related standards and are experienced in providing implementation solutions.  “This seminar provides a wealth of practical information on this new, highly advanced technology that will ultimately revolutionize the way consumers utilize television,” commented Mark Richer, ATSC president. “Television enters a whole new realm with the roll out of ACAP, and everyone in the industry involved in planning or implementing new technologies has something to gain from attending this seminar.”

The seminar will be held December 7 at The Radisson Barcelo Hotel in D.C.  Detailed information can be viewed at www.atsc.org/seminars.html. A preliminary schedule of presentations can be viewed at www.atsc.org/seminars/2004_ACAP/acap_04.htm. The ACAP Candidate Standard is available at www.atsc.org/standards.
