This document defines a means to uniquely identify content (an audiovisual work). This document also defines an MPEG-2 content identification descriptor for the carriage of this identifier. And, finally, this document defines the semantics of the use of the MPEG-2 content identification descriptor for labeling streaming audiovisual content in the ATSC Transport.
Note that ISO 20925-1, which is normatively referenced in A/57A, was a work in progress at the date of publication of A/57A. It was recently renumbered 15706-2. Until ISO 15706-2 is published, A/57A will be posted on the ATSC Web site. Upon publication of ISO 15706-2 , A/57A will be modified editorially as necessary and may be posted as an ATSC Standard.
Please note that ATSC has published a Candidate Standard amendment to A/57A, CS/TSG-746r0. The Candidate Standard replaces the previous content identification mechanism with a Content Labeling Descriptor defined in a recent amendment to ISO/IEC 13818-1 (MPEG-2 Systems) as a means of carrying standard identifiers. The ATSC Candidate Standard also defines a “house number” system based on TSID. |
ATSC documents are available in the Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may download a free reader from Adobe. Note that newer documents have been produced using Acrobat Version 7.0. This version, by default, writes files that can not be read by Readers before 6.0. It may be necessary, therefore, to download the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
Please note that some of these documents contain Normative References from Organizations that meet the criteria stated in the ATSC Policy on Copyright and References. |
