This document defines a standard for the Conditional Access system for ATSC terrestrial broadcasting to enable broadcasters to fully utilize the capabilities of digital broadcasting using ATSC. This standard is based, whenever possible, on existing open standards and defines the building blocks necessary to ensure interoperability. The ATSC CA module is replaceable; to ensure that ATSC hosts are protected against obsolescence as security is upgraded. This standard applies to all CA vendors that supply CA service on behalf of an ATSC service provider. An overview of the CA standard is given in Annex D. |
