Long-time ATSC sponsor LG Electronics is a global leader in technology and manufacturing for consumer electronics, mobile communications, home appliances, vehicle components and renewable energy solutions. Zenith (LG’s U.S. R&D subsidiary since 1999), was a founding ATSC member 35 years ago and developed the transmission system at the heart of the A/53 Digital Television Standard (now known as ATSC 1.0), approved by the FCC on Christmas Eve 1996. LG and Zenith have been active participants in the ATSC 3.0 development process. In fact, core LG technologies are in all layers of the ATSC 3.0 standard, including the majority of the A/322 Physical Layer Standard for ATSC 3.0 adopted by the FCC. LG and Zenith also are key players behind other important aspects of ATSC 3.0, including hybrid broadcast/broadband service features and non-real time datacasting, as well as early implementations of ATSC 3.0 advanced emergency advisories in cooperation with the AWARN Alliance, the group behind the Advanced Warning and Response Network. On the Road to ATSC 3.0, LG is supporting early implementations of Next Gen TV across the country and around the world. www.LG.com www.Zenith.com.
