ATSC 2017 Next-Gen Television Conference Set To Highlight Advantages Of New Flexible Broadcast Standard

May 16-17 Events Bring Together Technical Experts,Station Management, and Industry Experts

WASHINGTON, May 4, 2017 – With the completion of the new ATSC 3.0 broadcast TV standard now just weeks away, experts from the broadcast television industry will gather in mid-May for the “NextGen TV Conference: Powered by ATSC 3.0” (Registration Link) and sponsored by the Advanced Television Systems Committee.

“The talk of the just-completed NAB Show in Las Vegas was next-generation television and how the ATSC 3.0 suite of standards can be applied to enhance services for viewers and provide broadcasters with real-time data. Our event will highlight the technical capabilities of the emerging standard, as well as the policy and economic consequences of this leap ahead in broadcasting,” said Mark Richer, President of the ATSC.

The session on May 16 is aimed at technical experts, while the May 17 program that will address the current testing and trials that are underway with ATSC 3.0 and the first consumer research detailing what viewers might think of the new capabilities.  Both events will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, and registration for both events is now open.

The next-generation TV standard, also known as ATSC 3.0, is a revolution in technology that will transform TV broadcasting by bringing together Internet and over-the-air signals with a common IP backbone, while offering local stations the ability to improve emergency alerting, send video-on-demand content, enhance closed captioning and other accessibility features, better target messages and delivery of 4K Ultra HDTV.
