ATSC Standards Update: Two Documents Now at Ballot
Since the last issue of The Standard newsletter, two new TG3 ballots have been issued:
- A/322:2024-04 Amend. No. 1 – This ballot is to elevate S32-650r0, “ATSC Working Draft: A/322:2024 Amendment, ATSC 3.0 MIMO Extension,” to Proposed Standard. This document specifies MIMO, Channel Bonding, LDM, and their combinations in the physical layer, in order to support a significant throughput increase or spectral flexibility. The amendment also adds TxID signal generation complying with MIMO signals. The ballot closed on August 15.
- A/344:2024 Revision – This ballot is to elevate S38-521r6, “ATSC Candidate Standard Working Draft: Revision of A/344:2024-02, ATSC 3.0 Interactive Content,” to Candidate Standard for a period of time ending February 28, 2025. This document describes the interactive content environment provided by an ATSC 3.0 Receiver. The environment is composed of a standard W3C User Agent with known characteristics, a WebSocket interface for obtaining information from the Receiver and controlling various Receiver functionality, and an HTTP interface for accessing files delivered over broadcast. This document also specifies the life cycle of the interactive content when delivered over broadband or broadcast or both. The ballot closes on August 22, 2024
All ballots open at 6:00 p.m. ET and close at 11:59 p.m. ET on the closing date. Notification of an open ballot is sent to all voting-eligible members when the ballot opens. Reminders are issued to voters who have not yet voted one week before the close date and again one day before the close date. ATSC staff sends a notification of ballot results on the next business day following the close of the ballot.
