Jerry Fritz, Principal in Communications Policy Consulting, has had a 58-year tenure in the communications industry most recently as the Executive Vice President for Strategic and Legal Affairs for ONE Media Technologies, a subsidiary of Sinclair Broadcast Group.
At ONE Media, Jerry oversaw the long-term strategic planning and public policy for the company, supporting the adoption and deployment of the broadcast industry’s “NextGen Broadcast” (ATSC 3.0) transmission standard. Jerry played a critical role in shaping ONE Media’s ideas for the new broadcast platform and Sinclair’s national and international spectrum use positions along with the monetization of its patents. He is the recipient of the North American Broadcasters Association’s International Achievement Award for his work on the adoption of ATSC 3.0 as a global digital broadcast standard.
Prior to his work at ONE Media, Jerry was the long-time General Counsel and Strategic Planning head for Allbritton Communications Company as well as a director of the National Association of Broadcasters and an ABC Affiliate Governor. Jerry also had stints in private law practice and many years teaching communications law and policy at several universities and law schools. He served in multiple staff positions at the FCC including Chief of Staff to Chairman Mark Fowler during the Reagan Administration.
