Wayne Bretl, Zenith Electronics, was inducted as a Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE) 2012 Fellow at the Society’s Honors and Awards Ceremony on October 25th in Hollywood. A SMPTE Fellow is “one who has, by proficiency and contributions, attained an outstanding rank among engineers or executives in the motion-picture, television, or related industries.”

The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards and recommended practices for digital terrestrial broadcasting. ATSC member organizations represent the broadcast, broadcast equipment, motion picture, consumer electronics, computer, cable, satellite, and semiconductor industries. ATSC also develops digital terrestrial broadcasting implementation strategies and supports educational activities on ATSC standards.
