On June 17th Forbes magazine released its inaugural Accessibility 100 list, highlighting the most significant innovators and impact-makers working to further accessibility. The list included four ATSC members, technology titan Google; accessibility innovator Infinite Access (both recognized for software development); NBCUniversal Media (recognized for its work in sports and recreation); and global powerhouse Sony (recognized for accessible products). Each of these companies is committed to the goals of ATSC 3.0, which includes many advancements designed to improve the television experience for all. They are also committed to accessibility in a wide range of media, as demonstrated by their inclusion in the Accessibility 100.
According to Forbes, its Accessibility 100 list was compiled on the basis of over 400
interviews and discussions with specialists in the accessibility field, with input from an
advisory board of industry experts across more than 15 countries. Organizations were selected based on impact, invention, and potential to power systemic change across industries. The honor was bestowed for different “Impact areas” including Advocacy, Arts & Entertainment, Communication, Education, Law & Government, Mobility, Products, Software, Sports & Recreation, Workplace, and more. Other well-known recipients include Apple, Be My Eyes, Meta, Microsoft, Nike, Special Olympics, Walmart, and the World Institute on Disability.
ATSC’s four award winning members Google, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Infinite Access, embody ATSC 3.0’s commitment to accessibility in today’s rapidly developing technology.
