As we reflect on the remarkable success of the 2025 ATSC NextGen Broadcast Conference on June 12-13 in Washington, D.C., I want to extend my deepest thanks to everyone who helped make it such a meaningful and memorable event. With nearly 200 attendees, 34 speakers/presenters, 16 exhibitors, and 4 dedicated sponsors, this year’s conference was a vibrant showcase of collaboration, innovation, and momentum for the ATSC community.
A special thank-you goes to Raymundo Barros of Globo, whose keynote address offered an insightful global perspective on how the Rio de Janeiro station is now on air, broadcasting with cutting-edge DTV+ to deliver enhanced picture quality, interactive content, and next-generation TV experiences, thus highlighting their use and benefit of the ATSC 3.0 standards. We were also honored to welcome former FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington, who provided valuable commentary on regulatory and market forces shaping the future of our industry.
Congratulations to our honorees whose contributions exemplify the spirit of ATSC:
Our Standards Column in this issue provides a thorough update on the continued advancement of ATSC 3.0 standards work, reflecting the dedication of our members who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in broadcast technology.
As we shift into the summer season, ATSC continues to expand its international engagement. We’re looking forward to exhibiting at SET Expo 2025 in São Paulo this August—a critical venue for showcasing ATSC 3.0’s growing footprint in Latin America. We’re also honored to participate in the CBU Annual General Assembly in Barbados, and exploration into CAPER in Argentina, where we’ll further strengthen relationships across the Caribbean and Latin American broadcast ecosystem.
Thank you once again to our members, partners, and friends for your continued support. Your commitment drives the progress and impact of our work – and we’re just getting started.
