Meet Tiffany Yu, the Broadcast Business Development Manager at American Tower, where she’s spent over seven years supporting the company’s robust broadcast segment. Based out of the U.S. Tower Division headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston, Tiffany plays a key role in shaping the infrastructure that powers radio and television across the nation.
Tiffany’s day-to-day revolves around supporting FM and TV broadcasters, providing solutions for tower collocations and navigating the complex infrastructure needs that broadcasters face. “Every day brings fresh challenges to solve,” she says. “But I really enjoy getting creative and strategizing with my customers on how to reach their business goals.” For Tiffany, being a trusted resource means being both responsive and innovative – qualities that keep her customers coming back.
Tiffany’s involvement with ATSC 3.0 – also known as NEXTGEN TV – was a natural extension of American Tower’s early commitment to the new broadcast standard. American Tower participated in some of the first single frequency network trials in Dallas and Phoenix. Starting out as a marketing manager, Tiffany gradually became more involved with the ATSC organization, attending events, forging relationships, and growing her understanding of the technology’s potential.
One standout moment? Meeting FCC Chairman Brendan Carr during an ATSC event is just one example of how her career has intersected with key industry leaders and policymakers shaping the future of broadcast.
As a member of the ATSC Communications Committee, Tiffany plays a strategic role in shaping how the organization communicates the value of ATSC 3.0 to broadcasters, policymakers, and the public. “The success of ATSC 3.0 is heavily related to the ability of the organization to effectively communicate its value,” she notes. With her marketing background and deep knowledge of broadcast infrastructure, Tiffany is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between technical innovation and public understanding.
What excites Tiffany most about ATSC 3.0 is its potential to bring broadcast into the digital age in a way that’s smarter, more personalized, and more relevant to modern viewers. With American Tower’s expansive portfolio and resources, she sees endless possibilities for helping broadcasters transition to this next phase. “No two customers are taking the same approach to deployment, and that’s the beauty of it,” she adds. “We get to help tailor strategies that fit each broadcaster’s unique goals.”
Outside of work, Tiffany is a world traveler and family person. This summer, she and her family are headed to Southeast Asia, where Tiffany will be on vacation – but still behind the camera, capturing memories as the unofficial family photographer.
Her current hobbies? Portrait photography and Jazzercise – often with a group of lively retirees in her hometown. True to form, Tiffany’s personal motto – “Do what you say you are going to do, and let your actions speak louder than your words” – guides her approach to both work and life.
While tower leases dominate her reading list these days, Tiffany admits to dabbling in a collection of “self-help for dummies” books on random topics she knows she may never master. And when it comes to television, classic sitcoms are her comfort zone—Friends and I Love Lucy are always on standby for a mood boost.
If she weren’t building relationships in broadcast business development, Tiffany imagines a career in international public relations or diplomacy. She has a passion for finding commonalities between people and bridging societal differences. And if all else failed? You might just find her sketching out cartoon magic at the Happiest Place on Earth.
