Implementation Team 1 – Advanced Emergency Information

Chair: Peter Sockett, WRAL-HD

Scope

The ATSC Advanced Emergency Information Implementation Team provides a venue for industry discussions of issues related to implementation of emergency messaging. The Advanced Emergency Information I-Team may address business, regulatory, and technical requirements for the successful inclusion of emergency messaging and the successful commercial rollout of ATSC 3.0. However, this I-Team will not develop Standards or Recommended Practices. The group may make recommendations to ATSC and other standards development organizations.

Advanced Emergency Information, as a key element of the next-generation ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard, promises to create new significant value for viewers, consumer electronics manufacturers, broadcasters and various emergency management authorities. The addition of advanced emergency messaging capability and the accompanying rich-media emergency information represents a compelling application for ATSC 3.0.

Participation

Participation in an ATSC Implementation Team is open to all organizations offering or planning to offer services, products or other efforts relating or supporting implementation of ATSC 3.0. Participation in an ATSC Implementation Team requires organizations to sign an Implementation Team Agreement for the Team, which is available via the link below. There are additional fees for participation in an ATSC Implementation Team as described in the Implementation Team Agreement.
