The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) named Madeleine Noland as the 2016 recipient of the organization’s highest technical honor, the Bernard J. Lechner Outstanding Contributor Award.

NAB’s Skip Pizzi (now known as “The Reverend Skip”) earned his Rubber Chicken for his comments referring to ATSC 3.0 as a “Faith-Based Initiative.” Triveni Digital’s Rich Chernock received a special Rubber Chicken wearing a necktie, commemorating the first time that he was ever seen in a tie – a month earlier when he received the 2016 NAB Television Engineering Award.

The Advanced Television Systems Committee, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization developing voluntary standards and recommended practices for digital terrestrial broadcasting. ATSC member organizations represent the broadcast, broadcast equipment, motion picture, consumer electronics, computer, cable, satellite, and semiconductor industries. ATSC also develops digital terrestrial broadcasting implementation strategies and supports educational activities on ATSC standards.
